  • FOURTH EDITION

    The Future of Football International Congress is back for its 4th edition. On March 21st and 22nd, a debate about current events and future tendencies related with life on and off the football pitch will take place at the João Rocha Arena.

    DEBATES

    The debates will be reflective and constructive thanks to the presence of reputed speakers and moderators in the areas on analysis, with the intention to contribute in a positive way to the football industry, in all of its ranges.

    TARGET AUDIENCE
    The Congress is open to the participation of collective and individual entities: clubs, companies and other institutions, such as academics (professors and students) and others interested in the football phenomenon.

    SPORTING CLUBE DE PORTUGAL
    Sporting Clube de Portugal, responsible for this initiative, has been a pioneer in developing ideas and proposals that lead to the improvement of football, such as: referee professionalization; the introduction of VAR; reducing the action of football agents; the protection of player developing clubs; taxation; reducing the tax on ticket sales and the control and legalization of online sporting bets in Portugal; among other things.

    LOCATION
    This year, the Congress will be held in the brand new João Rocha Arena for the first time. The arena. where the indoor sports of Sporting Clube de Portugal play, was considered the biggest and most innovative arena of sports in Portugal, having already received various national and international competitions.

    Last April 2017, the World of Soccer, had the eyes into Lisbon, more precisely at the III International Congress "The Future of Football" organized by Sporting Clube de Portugal.

  • Various football related personalities have participated since the Congress first edition, such as: Keith Hacket (Former General manager of PGMOL), Gijs de Jong (Dutch Football Federation), Paul Rejer (MLS), Dirk Schlemmer (Bundesliga, currently at IFAB), Darren Bailey (FA), and former players: Luís Figo, Paulo Futre, Anthony Baffoe, Balakov.

  • Youth Football development has also been one of the topics of the Congress, with the participation of representatives from Ajax, Anderlecht, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Inter and Corinthians sharing their insights in training and development of young players and the globalization of football academies.

  • Representatives from international sporting organizations, FIFA (Angel Villar, Geoffrey Thompson) UEFA (Fernando Gomes e Guy-Laurent Epstein), ICSS (Emanuel Medeiros), MLS (Lino di Cuollo); Nacional: FPF (Fernando Gomes), LPFP (Pedro Proença).
